Job summary

Johnson Controls California seeks a Fire Sprinkler Inspector 1 to conduct routine inspections, testing, and maintenance on electrical, sprinkler and life-safety lines. You will document deficiencies, represent the company professionally, and maintain a structured inspection schedule across diverse sites.

The role requires physical labor, the ability to climb and travel, and a commitment to safety; you will participate in Grinnell's Apprenticeship program and enjoy competitive pay and benefits

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• NICET I certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
• Able to obtain and retain licenses required by codes.
• Experience reading blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specs.
• Capable of physical labor and moving equipment 50–70 lbs.
• Flexible hours including on-call, nights and weekends.
• Valid driver’s license; pass background and drug tests.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, testing, service, and maintenance on life safety product lines.
• Accurately document deficiencies found during inspections.
• Represent the company professionally at all times.
• Complete service Acknowledgement/inspections with proper coding.
• Follow a structured inspection schedule and complete tasks on time.
• Assist foreman in sprinkler system installations and modifications.
• Travel as needed and be willing to work in various positions and sites.
