Job summary

Johnson Controls in Jacksonville is seeking an Apprentice Sprinkler Inspector to support quality inspections and system verifications. You will document deficiencies, assist in installation and programming changes, and uphold safety and customer-service standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• NICET level I.
• 1 year of sprinkler inspection experience.
• Able to obtain and retain licenses as required by National, State and Local codes.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs schematics and operating/product manuals.
• Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.
• Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
• Able to work in unusual positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet.
• Ability to work flexible hours including on-call rotation, nights, and weekends.
• Willing to travel out of town.
• Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
• Strong organizational skills and a quick learner.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record meeting company requirements.
• Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for meeting customer expectations while performing quality inspections.
• Accurately discern and document deficiencies found during an inspection.
• Professionally represent the company at all times.
• Complete Service Acknowledgement/inspections with proper coding through devices like laptop computers, smartphones, or hardcopy.
• Follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule.
• Make minor repairs and programming changes to systems being inspected.
• Complete assigned inspections on time.
• Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 70lbs and perform physical labor.
• Assist foreman in the installation of wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems.
• Work in unusual and difficult positions such as climbing ladders and scaffolding.
• Be enrolled in Grinnell's approved Apprenticeship Program, maintaining all requirements.
• Maintain a positive attitude and learn quickly.
