Job summary

The GEO Group seeks a Safety professional to lead safety and loss prevention programs across the facility. You will develop procedures, train staff, and ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and client regulations. You will coordinate emergency planning and 24/7 on-call coverage.

Responsibilities include inspections, training, audits, and incident investigations, while maintaining high safety standards and accurate reporting in a complex correctional environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in occupational/industrial health and safety.
• Two years of experience in a correctional safety role or five years in fire safety/occupational health.
• Certification in fire and safety procedures within two years of start date.
• Extensive knowledge of OSHA and NFPA regulations; ability to read safety documents.

Responsibilities

• Develop safety procedures for employees and facility residents.
• Conduct safety inspections and implement changes.
• Provide ongoing safety training for staff and inmates/detainees/patients/residents.
• Train and mentor Fire and Safety staff and participate in audits.
• Control MSDS compliance for hazardous substances.
• Monitor PPE usage and sanitation/air quality standards.
• Ensure fire protection systems and safety equipment are tested regularly.
• Develop an Emergency Plan and conduct annual simulations.
• Coordinate with community emergency responders and FEMA guidelines.
• Be on-call 24/7 for emergencies.
