Job summary

The Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking a Fire Safety Inspector to inspect facilities for fire and safety hazards, coordinate drills, and monitor compliance with laws and codes. You will work with facility staff and department heads to reduce risk, ensuring safe environments for residents and staff.

Minimum qualifications include 2+ years of related experience and a high school diploma or equivalency; college credit hours in Fire Science or Industrial Safety may substitute.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of experience in duties similar to listed job tasks.
• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• College credit in Fire Science/Industrial Safety may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and grounds for fire and safety hazards and report findings.
• Plan and monitor fire drills, and coordinate emergency procedures.
• Coordinate safety activities with facility staff and department heads.
• Monitor construction projects for compliance with safety standards.
• Exercise independence and initiative in performing duties.
