The Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking a Fire Safety Inspector to inspect facilities for fire and safety hazards, coordinate drills, and monitor compliance with laws and codes. You will work with facility staff and department heads to reduce risk, ensuring safe environments for residents and staff.
Minimum qualifications include 2+ years of related experience and a high school diploma or equivalency; college credit hours in Fire Science or Industrial Safety may substitute.

Two or more years of experience, relevant/similar to the above listed job duties; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university, that include credit hours in Fire Science, Industrial Safety, or closely related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year)
Experience, and/or certification, in firefighting, building inspections, or OSHA compliance is preferred.
The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years! If you are transferring from another State of Missouri agency and are receiving state retention pay, please be advised that the Missouri Department of Corrections administers retention based upon your retention anniversary date. As a result, your retention pay upon transfer may differ from what you were receiving at your previous agency until you reach your applicable retention anniversary date.
