Job summary

Harlem Hospital Center, part of NYC Health + Hospitals, seeks a safety professional to organize and supervise the NYC Health + Hospitals System fire prevention and accident control program under general supervision.

The role includes coordinating periodic drills, investigating fires and accidents, training staff, inspecting equipment, and maintaining safety records while liaising with City agencies to share information and apply new safety techniques.

Qualifications

• A four-year high school diploma or equivalent and four years of general safety/accident prevention experience.
• One year of responsibility for conducting an organized safety/accident prevention program.
• Satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Consults with Superintendents and Fire Wardens on improving fire control methods and evacuation planning.
• Assists in planning periodic fire and evacuation drills.
• Investigates all fires and accidents and prepares reports with recommended control measures.
• Assists in safety education; initiates training programs and conducts safety lectures.
• Inspects fire emergency equipment and alarm systems and ensures safe practices.
• Maintains records of notices of violations and liaises with City agencies.
