Job summary

Harvard Protection Services in Manhattan, NY is seeking a part-time Security Fire Safety Director to lead staff and deliver professional security and life safety coverage for the site.

This position requires a Fire Safety Directors license, a high school diploma, and strong communication and organizational skills; you will monitor alarms, supervise entrances, and support fire drills and emergency planning.

Qualifications

• State or municipality mandated security officer licenses.
• Minimum High School Diploma, GED or the equivalent.
• Must have Fire Safety Directors license.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn fire inspection operations, and procedures.
• Must have reliable means of communication and transportation.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Must have a security guard license or be able to obtain one within an acceptable period.
• Previous contract security, law enforcement, fire department, military, customer service experience preferred.
• Good organizations skills.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Write routine detailed correspondence, to include log entries, incident and reporting.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, customer service environment.
• Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize and problem solve.
• Good computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead staff and provide customer-focused security and life safety services.
• Maintain a visible presence in the facility.
• Monitor the environment and detect suspicious or unsafe activity.
• Know the building policies and enforce them within the role.
• Assist with emergency action planning, fire protection and safety standards.
• Monitor alarms and systems as required.
• May perform scheduling, overtime management, and training of staff.
• Prepare reports and incident logs and recommend fire hazard mitigations.
• Maintain records and logs as required by law.
