Job summary

Total Safety is seeking a Fire Protection Technician apprentice to train in service and repair of fire extinguishers, lifesaving gear, gas and foam systems, and water-based fire protection. You will learn to inspect, test, and document tasks for customers, both onshore and offshore as required.

You will work in shop and field environments, handle safety equipment, and assist with vehicle maintenance. A HS diploma or GED is preferred; associates degree or technical/military training is a plus.

Qualifications

• Ability to apply for and receive an Apprentice Permit (fire extinguishers) as required.
• Ability to study for and pass ICC/NAFED Certification within six months.

Responsibilities

• Learns to perform service and/or repair, inspection, cleaning, reassembling, and testing of fire equipment and systems.
• Lears to rig‑up and use safety equipment such as harnesses and lanyards.
• Lears to operate electronic safety systems including gas monitors and radios.
• Complies with Total Safety and customer documentation for invoicing and records.
• Lears to reassemble/test equipment per manufacturer specs and document results.
• Performs basic maintenance of assigned vehicle/trailer and keeps work areas orderly.
• Trained, authorized, and certified to work onshore and offshore.
• Assists others as needed.
