Fire Protection - Service Layout Technician

Job Title: Service Layout Technician

Design Fire Protection Systems for various projects including Industrial, Commercial, and Residential. Perform layout using AutoCAD/HydraCAD, create hydraulic calculations & pipe lists for pre-fabrication. Must be organized, efficient, and work well with the design team.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities

• Complete sprinkler drawings according to current NFPA standards.
• Identify building construction types and hazards, selecting appropriate protections.
• Work within project budgets and coordinate with other trades on non-complex projects.
• Design projects including pipe cutting with fittings, selecting materials, and operating AutoCAD.
• Conduct field surveys to gather dimensions and information.
• Produce industry-standard drawings, calculations, material submittals, and project paperwork.
• Coordinate project components and troubleshoot potential issues.
• Order materials and communicate effectively with customers and team members.
• Maintain knowledge of all applicable fire codes, including NFPA 13.
• Lead projects, direct team members, and report to the Service Manager.
• Ensure safety practices are followed at all times.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Fire Protection design.
• Mechanical aptitude and proficiency in AutoCAD, Hydratec CAD, and stock listing programs required.
• NICET Certification is a plus.
