Ideal candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection or related engineering discipline, are in their junior or senior year, and have coursework in life safety analysis.

Qualifications

• Student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering Technology, or another engineering discipline with coursework in fire protection engineering.
• Incoming junior or senior year standing.
• Completion of courses related to fire protection system design and/or life safety analysis such as Introduction to Life Safety Analysis, Water Based Fire Protection Systems Design, Special Hazard suppression Systems, Fire Protection Fluid Mechanics, and/or Smoke Management and Fire Alarm Systems.
• Typical office environment with computers; field work may involve exposure to elements.

Responsibilities

• Apply general concepts of fire protection engineering through investigation and analysis to support engineering projects involving fire suppression, detection, smoke control, materials, and egress.
• Perform basic calculations to analyze and design engineering components using standard software.
• Gather information to support design decisions and assist in preparing designs, drawings, specifications, and reports.
• Collaborate with architecture and engineering professionals in project delivery under a senior engineer’s guidance.
• Provide support during construction including submittal reviews, RFIs, and site testing.
• Perform other duties as assigned by senior staff.
• Assist team in providing field surveys and documentation.
