Job summary

Formosa-Plastic is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to serve as the technical expert for fire protection system design, safety analyses, and cross-disciplinary interface with mechanical engineering.

You will lead design efforts for wet-pipe, dry-pipe, deluge, foam/water, and related fire protection systems, ensure compliance with NFPA codes, and provide training to EHS personnel at the site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in fire protection or related engineering field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in design/installation of fire protection systems.
• Experience with fire sprinkler, suppression, and fire alarm layouts and NFPA standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and review wet-pipe, dry-pipe, pre-action, deluge, and foam/water systems.
• Assess hazards per codes and project requirements; evaluate occupancy and egress.
• Develop documents for fire protection systems and review plans for compliance with Fire Safety Codes.
• Perform hydraulics analyses and NFPA code compliance checks; support central engineering projects.
• Train site and corporate EHS personnel in fire protection systems and participate in HAZOPs.
