Job summary

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our Westminster, CO team. The successful candidate will support fire protection and life-safety system design, code analysis, and performance-based design with a multidisciplinary group.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in engineering, may have a fire protection degree, and should have familiarity with AutoCAD/Revit; FE/EIT status is a plus and in-person collaboration in our Denver-area office is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from accredited college or university.
• Fire Protection specific degree preferred.
• Mechanical, Architectural, Civil, Chemical Engineering degrees also considered.
• Having passed the FE exam with the ability to obtain EIT.
• Experience working in AutoCAD and/or REVIT (preferred).
• General building construction knowledge (preferred).
• Intermediate level computer skills for daily activities (email, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics).
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work on a highly-motivated team, think outside the box, and expand knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Attend and participate in local and national professional organizations, such as SFPE and NFPA.
• Performing research and documenting for internal and external distribution.
• Analysis of existing fire protection systems; design new fire protection systems including suppression, detection, and life-safety systems.
• Building and fire code analysis and interpretation.
• Utilization of AutoCAD, Revit to prepare fire protection system designs.
• Utilization of FDS, CONTAM, FLACS, PHAST for performance-based design.
