Coffman Engineers is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer in Westminster, CO to join our multi-discipline team. The successful candidate will design and analyze fire protection systems, conduct code analyses, and support life-safety objectives.

Bachelor’s in engineering; FE/EIT preferred; AutoCAD/Revit experience preferred. Full-time, in-office position with a competitive salary and benefits.

  • Fire Protection degree preferred; other engineering degrees considered with interest in fire protection.
  • FE exam passed or ability to obtain EIT; experience with AutoCAD or REVIT preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work on a team in Westminster, CO.
  • In-person, full-time role in our Westminster office.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze fire protection systems and life-safety concepts.
  • Perform fire code analysis, egress analysis, and performance-based design.
  • Develop automatic suppression, detection, and mass notification systems.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects.
  • Support site inspections and testing of life-safety systems.

Job Description

Coffman Engineers is seeking aFire Protection Engineerwho is a graduate with a Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in engineering. The successful candidate will have a desire to work, grow, and have fun with a multi-discipline engineering team. They are passionate about engineering and looking for an environment that promotes professional growth and technical excellence.

The successful individual will have a passion for protecting lives from fire risks in the built environment. The ideal candidate will have a fire protection engineering degree, however, an engineering degree in other fields (mechanical, architectural, civil, chemical, etc.) with a demonstrated interest in fire protection will also be considered.

This position will support the team in providing our clients with: fire and life safety code analysis; egress analysis; fire resistant rated construction analysis; automatic suppression system design and analysis; fire detection, alarm and communication system design and analysis; smoke control system design and special inspections; site inspections and witness of life safety system testing; fire hazard analysis; performance-based design; as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts.

The Denver Fire Protection Engineering department collectively has 50+ years of experience in Fire Protection Engineering across our department of six, all of whom will provide you with training, mentorship, and support to help you grow your career. We enjoy working together collaboratively in the office and supporting each other to deliver good engineering work that makes the world a safer place.

Qualifications

Requirements Include:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in engineering from accredited college or university.
    • Fire Protection specific degreepreferred.
    • Mechanical, Architectural, Civil, Chemical Engineering degrees also considered
  • Having passed the FE exam with the ability to obtain EIT
  • Experience working in AutoCAD and/or REVIT (preferred).
  • General building construction knowledge (preferred).
  • Intermediate level computer skills necessary for daily activities, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and simple graphics.
  • Managing day-to-day contacts with internal and external clients utilizing experience and technology to meet expectations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including oral presentation skills.
  • Ability to work on a highly-motivated team, think outside the box, and be proud of the work you do while having a passion for expanding your knowledge and skills.
  • Working in-person in our Westminster, CO office, full-time, Monday through Friday.

Desired Skills & Duties:

  • Attend and participate in local and national professional organizations, such as SFPE and NFPA.
  • Performing research and document for internal and external distribution.
  • Analysis of existing fire protection systems; design new fire protection systems including suppression systems, fire detection, fire alarm and mass notification systems.
  • Building and fire code analysis and interpretation.
  • Utilization of AutoCAD, Revit to prepare fire protection system designs.
  • Utilization of FDS, CONTAM, FLACS, PHAST, etc. programs to execute performance-based design efforts.

This position is not eligible for current or future sponsorship.

The expected annual salary range for this position is $72,000 - $90,000. No relocation assistance is provided.
