Job summary

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to support evaluation, inspection, and testing of fire protection and life safety systems across NIST facilities. You will help ensure compliance with industry standards and building codes during research activities and renovations.

Role requires engineering credentials and experience with NFPA and ICC standards, with emphasis on fire protection design and life safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher degree in engineering with ABET-accredited program or equivalent qualifications.
• Experience designing or reviewing fire protection and life safety systems in complex occupancies.
• Strong knowledge of ICC and NFPA codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, inspect, and test fire protection and life safety systems and sub-systems relevant to research activities and construction/renovation work.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, ICC, and NIST adopted codes and standards.
• Support OSHE in reducing risk and maintaining safe work environments.
