Job summary

Shambaugh & Son L.P. in Indiana is seeking a Fire Protection Sprinkler Designer to design layouts using AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and Revit, and to perform hydraulic calculations for projects.

You will support project teams, coordinate with contractors and engineers, and develop BIM models and fabrication lists to ensure accurate, on-time execution at client sites.

This on-site role requires a technical degree and strong communication, with opportunities to grow through our Design Academy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or business discipline preferred or equivalent experience.
• Excellent communication skills for project management.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and mathematical aptitude, with attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities under time constraints.
• Reliable vehicle to travel to local job sites as needed.
• Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a comprehensive training program designed to develop industry knowledge and technical expertise.
• Complete the company Design Academy within the first six months of employment, receiving extensive instruction in fire protection design principles and industry best practices.
• Design and develop fire sprinkler system layouts using AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and Revit software.
• Assist with project management activities, including coordination with contractors, engineers, and other trade partners.
• Apply mathematical and engineering concepts to perform hydraulic calculations and analyze project costs.
• Build and maintain positive customer relationships to ensure project success and client satisfaction.
• Create and maintain Building Information Modeling (BIM) designs and conduct field surveys to support project execution.
• Generate fabrication material lists and coordinate system requirements with multiple trades.
