Job summary

Shambaugh & Son L.P. in Indiana is seeking a Fire Protection Sprinkler Designer to design layouts using AutoCAD and HydraCAD and to create hydraulic calculations.

You will read contract documents, coordinate with trades, and provide BIM modeling and field surveying support. Travel to client sites may be required.

A technical or business degree is preferred and strong math, blueprint reading, and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or business discipline preferred or equivalent experience.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and mathematical aptitude.
• Good working knowledge of hydraulic calculations and ability to read blueprints.
• Willingness to travel to client sites.
• Regular and reliable attendance with flexibility for extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Design and layout of fire sprinkler systems.
• Read, analyze and interpret contract documents across disciplines.
• Plan, coordinate and present to individuals and groups.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and project cost analysis.
• Build positive relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Provide sprinkler designs with AutoCAD, HydraCAD, AutoSprink, and Revit.
• Contribute to BIM modeling and field surveying.
• Prepare fabrication lists and coordinate between trades.
• Other duties as assigned.
