Job summary

Salt Lake City is seeking a Fire Prevention Supervisor to provide strategic leadership and oversight of fire inspection, investigation, prevention, and life safety programs. You will supervise Fire Prevention Specialists and other staff, ensuring code compliance and strong program performance.

The role demands extensive knowledge of fire codes, strong leadership, and the ability to develop risk-reduction strategies while coordinating with stakeholders and the Fire Marshal.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in Fire Science, Fire Protection Engineering, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Five years of progressive experience in fire prevention, including inspection, investigation, and code enforcement.
• Certifications: ICC Fire Inspector I certification.
• Advanced knowledge of modern fire prevention principles and protection systems.
• Ability to lead programs and supervise personnel.

Responsibilities

• Leads and directs fire prevention programs with full accountability for outcomes.
• Supervises and provides development opportunities for assigned personnel.
• Develops community risk reduction strategies.
• Establishes program goals and performance metrics.
• Manages budget planning and resource allocation.
