Job summary

Town of Danville is seeking a Fire Marshal to lead the department’s community risk reduction program, coordinate prevention, inspections, plan review, investigations, public education, and the Knox Box program across the service area.

The Fire Marshal works under the Deputy Chief of Administration and manages assigned programs with department policy and delegated authority. Performance is evaluated by quality, timeliness, and results.

Qualifications

• Valid Indiana driver’s license required.
• U.S. citizen and ability to pass background check.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and administer community risk reduction activities.
• Conduct fire and life safety inspections of buildings, occupancies, facilities, and events.
• Review construction plans for fire department access and safety concerns.
• Coordinate or witness acceptance inspections and testing of fire protection systems.
• Develop and deliver fire and life safety education for residents, schools, and businesses.

• Manage the Knox Box program and maintain records.
• Represent the department at meetings and community events.
• Maintain certifications and assist with budget and planning.
