Job summary

The City of Westminster seeks a Fire Plans Examiner/Inspector to perform plan reviews for fire protection systems and assist with inspections to verify conformance with approved plans. The role covers fire alarm, sprinkler, commercial hood, PDP/ODP submittals, and related code research under the Fire Marshal.

You will conduct inspections citywide, perform fire protection system testing, and communicate requirements to businesses and residents.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
ICC Fire Inspector I certification required or ability to obtain
ICC Plans Examiner certification or Colorado Fire Plans Examiner III or Fire Protection Engineer certification
Proficiency utilizing software and computer equipment relevant to the position
Valid driver’s license and safe driving record throughout employment
ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 or ability to obtain within 12 months
Fire Investigation experience with certification(s) in related field

Responsibilities

Complete plan reviews for fire alarm, fire sprinkler, commercial hood fire protection, aboveground and underground fuel storage tanks, new construction, and other fire protection systems
Coordinate with Community Services, GIS, Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, developers, contractors, architects, designers, builders and sub‑contractors
Establish programs, policies, and procedures for the Fire Prevention Bureau related to plan review, code adoption and interpretation, and inspections with the Fire Marshal
Coordinate and participate in committees, task forces, and work groups
Manage all aspects of the plan review process
May conduct inspections on occasion and participate in on‑call rotations
