Job summary

The Excelsior Fire District seeks a highly experienced Fire Marshal to interpret and enforce state and NFPA fire codes, inspect occupancies, review plans, and oversee safety compliance. This role leads investigations, risk reduction, and emergency management activities within the district.

Ideal candidates bring strong leadership, extensive knowledge of fire protection systems, and the ability to coordinate with law enforcement and building officials.

Qualifications

• Interpret and enforce the State Fire Code, NFPA standards, and municipal ordinances.
• Plan, schedule, and direct periodic life safety inspections for various occupancies.
• Conduct comprehensive plan reviews for construction and hazardous processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead Fire Prevention, Code Enforcement & Plan Review activities.
• Manage fire investigation function, preserve evidence, and collaborate with law enforcement.
• Design and oversee Community Risk Reduction, public education, and outreach programs.
• Serve as Incident Commander during emergencies and assist in EOC activations.
• Support administration, budgeting, and personnel development within the division.
