Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Saint Paul, MN, is seeking a Special Hazards Designer to design fire protection systems in both office and field settings, coordinating with sales, project management and installations. You will prepare submittals for approvals and provide training as needed to ensure accurate, timely work.

The role emphasizes independent, results-oriented performance with a focus on quality and budget.

Qualifications

• Strong written and oral communication abilities.
• Clean driver’s record and valid license.
• Ability to secure access to installations and pass background checks.
• NICET certification in Special Hazards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Produce design drawings for all engineered fire systems.
• Provide input for estimates on design/build and pre-engineered systems.
• Create shop drawings and closing documents for approval and delivery.
• Coordinate communication between sales, PM, design and installation.
• Manage project database to reduce redundancy and save time.
• Guide installation personnel to ensure quality, schedule and budget.
