Job summary

Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District is seeking a qualified investigator to lead complex fire origin-and-cause investigations and perform advanced field inspections, including plan reviews for commercial and residential properties. In this role, you will collect and preserve evidence, prepare comprehensive reports, and collaborate with Washoe County detectives and prosecutors on potential cases.

You will also support public education and training for Operations personnel and may lead project

Qualifications

High school graduation or equivalent required; 2½ years in fire, building or government code enforcement, fire investigation or related fields; or an accredited associate degree with 15 months of related experience.
Required at time of appointment: valid driver's license; ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800; ICC Fire Inspector I/II and Fire Plans Examiner; Nevada State Fire Marshal Investigator Certification; completion of related Fire Inspection courses or Nevada certification; Youth Firesetting Prevention and Intervention; NWCG FI-210 and related task book for INVF.

Responsibilities

Lead or independently conduct complex fire origin-and-cause investigations.
Conduct advanced field inspections and plan reviews for commercial and residential properties.
Collaborate with law enforcement and prosecutors on arson cases.
Prepare case files, reports, and provide testimony in court when needed.
Support public education and training for Operations personnel.
May act as project lead for other inspectors and trainees.
