Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus 1.5 years of field experience in fire or code enforcement.
• Or an accredited associate degree with nine months of related experience.
• Licenses, certifications and qualifications must be maintained throughout employment.
• Background and medical examinations required prior to appointment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect commercial and residential properties for fire and life-safety code compliance.
• Review construction plans and identify fire hazards and corrective actions.
• Investigate complaints and conduct follow-up inspections; document findings and support enforcement as needed.
• Participate in fire investigations; not a lead or solo investigator position.
• Deliver public education and community risk-reduction programs.
• Maintain accurate inspection records, reports and case documentation.
