Job summary

City of Fairfield is seeking a Fire Inspector I to join the Fire Department. The role focuses on residential and commercial inspections with emphasis on weed abatement and vegetation, as part of the Fire Prevention Bureau.

This is a 1-full-time vacancy with an eligibility list for future needs. The incumbent will start under supervision and perform routine inspections, learn policies and codes, and may advance to Fire Inspector II with experience and proficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two (2) years of experience dealing with the public is required.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform residential and commercial inspections and prevention duties of a routine nature.
• Contribute to weed abatement efforts and vegetation control.
• Learn City policies, California Building/Fire Codes, and methods for assigned areas.
• Advancement path to higher level after gaining experience and proficiency.
