Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is hiring a Suppression Shop Technician to perform service and maintenance on fire extinguishers in a fixed-location shop. No travel is required, and you will help keep equipment ready for use while maintaining accurate service records.

You will operate hand tools, lift up to 50 lbs, and follow safety protocols to ensure a clean, organized, and safe work area. The role offers an hourly wage range with competitive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• On-the-job training provided; previous experience not required.
• Ability to operate hand tools and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions, including lifting, sliding, and general production work.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a licensing test.
• Ability to pass a drug test, background check, and BMV check.
• Comfort working in a shop environment and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Perform service and maintenance on fire extinguishers, including recharging, testing, and six- and twelve-year maintenance work.
• Accurately complete reports, inspection tags, paperwork, and maintenance records for extinguisher service activities.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on extinguisher shop test equipment.
• Maintain the organization, operation, and cleanliness of the work area.
• Use hand tools safely and complete repetitive production tasks, including lifting, sliding, and general extinguisher handling.
• Wear all minimum PPE required by Johnson Controls, as well as specialized PPE when needed for specific work situations.
• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at work.
• Complete required employment paperwork, such as timecards, in a timely and professional manner.
• Participate in periodic Johnson Controls business meetings and contribute to the growth and sustainability of the business.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
