Job summary

County Emergency Communications is seeking a Fire Dispatcher to coordinate responses to fires and emergencies, manage incident data, and maintain clear radio communications. The role emphasizes organized information handling and following established response plans while working with authorized personnel.

Responsibilities include documenting incidents, alerting appropriate stations, and coordinating resources during major events.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Strong data entry and computer systems proficiency may be required for particular assignments.
• Fire dispatch certification or EMS training may be preferred for certain postings.

Responsibilities

• Receive and document reports of fires, rescues, alarms, and hazardous conditions.
• Verify incident locations, access information, and reported risks.
• Alert stations and dispatch apparatus using approved response assignments.
• Monitor radio channels, unit availability, and incident status.
• Relay information about occupants, hazards, and changing conditions.
• Process requests for additional resources through established procedures.
• Coordinate mutual-aid communications when assigned.
• Record dispatch times, unit movements, and significant incident updates.
