Job summary

County Emergency Communications is hiring Fire Dispatchers to coordinate responses to fires, rescues, hazardous conditions, and other emergencies. You will receive incident information, alert stations, and dispatch units while maintaining clear radio communication and up-to-date incident details.

The role requires organized information handling, accuracy in data entry, and the ability to follow established response plans under supervision of authorized personnel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent commonly required.
• Ability to handle radios, maps, and incident details with accuracy.
• Comfort with computer systems and data entry for incident logs.

Responsibilities

• Receive and document reports of fires, rescues, alarms, and hazardous conditions.
• Verify incident locations, access information, and reported risks.
• Alert stations and dispatch apparatus using approved response assignments.
• Monitor radio channels, unit availability, and incident status.
• Relay information about occupants, hazards, and changing conditions.
• Process requests for additional resources through established procedures.
• Coordinate mutual-aid communications when assigned.
• Record dispatch times, unit movements, and significant incident updates.
