Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Field Project Manager for its Fire Division in Virginia to lead moderately complex projects with high priority. You’ll manage scope, schedule, cost, safety, quality, and client expectations while coordinating design, permits, and vendor relationships.

You will develop detailed project plans, conduct progress reviews, and ensure on-time, in-scope delivery. The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and travel readiness to support various

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or associate Degree, or equivalent work experience of at least five years in fire protection, electrical installation, construction, or related project management experience.
• Knowledge of standards, Underwriter’s requirements, and applicable building codes preferred.
• PMI/PMP certification will be obtained within two years of employment in the position.
• Ability to read and understand complex building architectural, mechanical, and electrical documents.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize among assignments with a strong adherence to deadlines.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, both with internal and external customers.
• Must be organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivating.
• Computer fluency in Windows, Excel, and other software applications.
• Possess a strong and active working knowledge of MS Excel. Be able to create tracking spreadsheets, reference data in other spreadsheets, and create macros.
• Available for Local Travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead moderately complex projects with medium to high priority for Fire Division.
• Manage project scope, schedule, cost, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
• Present project updates and results to management and customers.
• Develop comprehensive project plans and conduct Work in Progress meetings.
• Coordinate design, permits, material delivery, labor schedules, and field installation.
• Ensure projects close on time and within scope.
