Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Field Project Manager for its Fire Division in the United States. You will lead moderately complex projects, manage schedules, costs, safety, and quality while coordinating with clients, architects, and vendors.

You will develop project plans, handle risk and change orders, and ensure projects are completed on time and in scope. A PMI/PMP within two years is preferred; travel locally is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or associate Degree, or equivalent work experience of at least five years in fire protection, electrical installation, construction, or related project management experience.
• Knowledge of standards, Underwriter’s requirements, and applicable building codes preferred.
• PMI/PMP certification will be obtained within two years of employment in the position.
• Ability to read and understand complex building architectural, mechanical, and electrical documents.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize among assignments with a strong adherence to deadlines.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, both with internal and external customers.
• Must be organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivating.
• Computer fluency in Windows, Excel, and other software applications.
• Be able to create tracking spreadsheets, reference data in other spreadsheets, and create macros.
• Available for Local Travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead moderately complex projects with medium to high corporate priority in the Fire Division.
• Provide subject matter expertise in project management, setup of local project offices, scope definition, risk identification, and resource allocation.
• Maintain control of schedule, cost, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction at all times.
• Present to management and/or customers on project updates, cycle, and results.
• May manage vendor relationships during installation and ensure on-time completion within scope.
• Coordinate change orders and drive margin improvement on every job.
