Job summary

Johnson Controls International plc. is seeking Inspectors to conduct routine inspections, test, service and maintain electrical, sprinkler or suppression life-safety product lines and similar competitor products.

You will document deficiencies, represent the company professionally, and follow a strict inspection schedule. Responsibilities include minor repairs/programming changes, on-time completion of inspections, physical labor up to 70 lbs, and potential travel.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• NICET I certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
• Able to obtain and retain licenses required by National, State and Local codes.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs schematics and manuals.
• Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.
• Capable of performing physical labor up to 50-70 lbs.
• Able to work in unusual positions such as ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment.
• Willing to travel out of town.
• Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
• Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and quick learning.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record meeting company requirements.
• Able to pass pre-employment background and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Meeting customer expectations while performing quality inspections.
• Accurately discern and document deficiencies found during an inspection.
• Professionally represent the company at all times.
• Complete Service Acknowledgement/inspections with proper coding through devices.
• Follow and maintain a structured inspection schedule.
• Make minor repairs and programming changes to inspected systems.
• Complete assigned inspections on time.
• Perform other duties as directed.
• Carry/move equipment and tools up to 70 lbs; perform physical labor.
• Assist foreman in installing sprinkler systems.
• Work in unusual positions: ladders, scaffolding, high lift.
• Be enrolled in Grinnell’s approved Apprenticeship Program and meet requirements.
• Maintain positive attitude and quick learning ability.
