Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced field inspector to perform routine inspections, testing, service, and preventive maintenance on life safety product lines. The role involves low voltage work, documenting results, and occasional on-site training for junior staff.

Candidates should have 2+ years in installation or service of fire alarm equipment, a valid driver's license, and the ability to travel. A NICET certification is preferred; competitive pay and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of installation or service experience in testing and inspecting fire alarm equipment.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Capable of physical labor to include lifting 50-70 lbs.
• Able to climb ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet.
• Willing to travel out of town including overnight lodging.
• Demonstrate strong customer service.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record meeting company requirements.
• Able to obtain licenses required by national, state and local codes.
• Moderate level of experience with computer software.

Responsibilities

• Inspect electrical, sprinkler or suppression life safety product lines during routine inspections.
• Test, service and perform preventive maintenance.
• Work with low voltage wiring and operating devices.
• Input, retrieve and archive inspection documents via mobile devices.
• Make minor repairs and programming changes to inspected systems.
• Provide technical training to less senior inspectors and trainees.
• Complete inspections on time.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
