Job summary

SEACORP has immediate full-time openings for recently separated Navy Fire Control Technicians to serve as Systems Engineers in Newport, RI. The role involves system design, integration and test, and operational support for 3rd Party Targeting, BYG-1 Combat Control System, and the Tomahawk Weapon System on all submarine classes.

Travel to shipboard events and shore sites is possible. Offices are in Newport, with labs at NUWC Newport, and a Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or military experience with US Navy submarine combat systems incl. Naval Advanced C School.
  • 6 years of experience working with submarine combat systems.
  • Experience with GCCS-M and RVL is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with customer program leads to review system designs and recommend implementations.
  • Identify and analyze software and hardware failures to determine root causes.
  • Provide lab test support evaluating new system capabilities and troubleshooting.
  • Propose temporary workarounds while long-term solutions are developed.
  • Assess operational risks of reported failures and document them clearly.
  • Participate in meetings and communicate status effectively.

Job Summary

SEACORP has immediate full-time openings for recently separated Navy Fire Control Technicians who will provide support as Systems Engineers in Newport, RI. In these positions, candidates will provide system design, integration and test, and operational support for 3rd Party Targeting, BYG-1 Combat Control System, and the Tomahawk Weapon System on all submarine classes. The primary office location is located in Newport, Rhode Island supporting labs at NUWC Newport but may include travel to support events onboard submarines both dockside and underway, and at shore sites at different theatres.

Essential Capabilities
  • Working with customer program leads to review system designs and provide recommendations for implementation based on operational experience
  • Identifying, investigating and analyzing software and hardware failures to determine root-causes
  • Providing lab test support evaluating new system capabilities and troubleshooting problems
  • Identifying temporary workarounds for problems while long term solutions are analyzed
  • Identifying operational risks associated with all reported failures
  • Writing clear and concise problem reports
  • Attending meetings as applicable and provide necessary verbal communication

Please note that an Active Secret Security Clearance is required on the date of hire.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, qualified candidates will have military experience with US Navy Submarine Combat Systems including completion of Naval Advanced "C" School in the technical field of experience.

Experience: 6 years of related experience, specifically working with submarine combat systems. Global Command and Control System – Maritime (GCCS-M) and Radiant Valkyrie Lite (RVL) experience a plus.

As a requirement of employment, all SEACORP employees must hold U.S. Citizenship

Travel: Quarterly (approximately 4 times a year)

Clearance: Secret

Work Environment & Physical Demands: Office & Computer Laboratories - Sitting, standing, extended periods of time using a mouse and keyboard and viewing computer screens. Infrequent lifting of <40lbs. Movement between points within the same office or between buildings. Work is performed in generally consistent environmental conditions with some seasonality for temperature differences and lighting.
