Job summary

The City of Panama City Beach is seeking a Fire Inspector to conduct inspections, plan reviews, and life-safety assessments to ensure compliance with fire codes and regulations. Responsibilities include field inspections of developments, reviewing site plans, investigating code violations, and coordinating with service providers and the public to protect life and property.

Knowledge of fire prevention and enforcement guidelines is essential; Florida driver’s license required; certifications

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with specialized training.
• 1–2 years experience in fire inspection or related work.
• Valid Florida driver’s license required or able to obtain one.
• Meet Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training requirements.
• Firefighter I and II certifications preferred.
• EMT certification preferred.
• Fire Safety Inspector I certification preferred.
• CPR certification required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections of permitted development to ensure compliance with codes and ordinances.
• Review building site plans and coordinate plan reviews for new construction and renovations.
• Investigate life safety code violation complaints from the public.
• Perform annual inspections of new and existing businesses.
• Inspect permitting for special events venues for life safety compliance.
• Review fire alarm run reports and coordinate with service companies.
• Perform water flow calculations for fire suppression systems.
• Prepare regular and special reports.
• Perform firefighting duties as needed.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
