Job summary

City of Belmont Fire Department is seeking a Fire Chief to lead firefighting, rescue, EMS, fire prevention, and education programs. The role directs staffing, budgeting, facility and equipment planning, and program development to ensure readiness and exemplary citizen service.

The Chief may participate in major incident response, set departmental policies, and represent the City with state and federal partners.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of fire service management principles and supervisory practices.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA codes and fire prevention standards.
• Experience in budgeting, staffing, and program development.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and directs departmental operations and policies for fire prevention and suppression, rescue, EMS, training, and public education.
• Manages full- and part-time staff to ensure operational readiness and training.
• Develops budget projections and oversees equipment procurement and maintenance.
• Coordinates with City officials and external agencies for emergency planning and mutual aid.
• Participates in emergency management planning and maintains official reports and records.

Education

Degree in Fire Science / Public Administration
