Job summary

Farmington City seeks a Fire Captain to lead assigned firefighters in fire suppression, EMS, and rescue operations. You will supervise personnel, ensure safety, and enforce department policies.

The position requires multiple certifications, strong incident command skills, and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure. Full benefits include medical, retirement, leave, and education support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 18+ years old; Utah driver’s license.
• Minimum 5 years of full-time firefighting experience.
• Required certifications at hire/promotion: Utah FF I & II, State Wildland Firefighter I – Red Card, HazMat Ops/Aware, Pumper & Aerial, ADO, and EMT or Paramedic.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned firefighters and oversees emergency response activities.
• Oversees fire suppression, EMS, and rescue operations and may assume incident command when needed.
• Maintains equipment and buildings, conducts inspections, and ensures safety compliance.
• Participates in meetings, supports policy implementation, and assists with training and certification.
