CITY OF FARMINGTON is seeking a Firefighter in the Fire Department to join our Regular, Full-Time workforce. The role involves firefighting duties, emergency medical support, inspections, equipment maintenance, and community safety education.

Candidates must meet requirements including a high school diploma or GED, pass the firefighter entrance exam, pass the Combat Challenge, read and write English, and obtain NM EMT-B within the first year.

Qualifications

• Pass Firefighter entrance exam.
• Pass Firefighter Combat Challenge in under 7 minutes.
• Be 18 years or older.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must obtain NM EMT-B within the first year.

Responsibilities

• Perform firefighting duties including driving fire apparatus, operating pumps and extinguishment.
• Provide emergency medical aid and basic life support.
• Inspect buildings and hydrants as part of fire prevention.
• Maintain and repair fire equipment and facilities.
• Engage in community safety education and outreach.
• Work rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Respond to alarms and coordinate with dispatch, using radios and computer systems.
