City of Compton seeks an experienced Battalion Chief to supervise fire companies on an assigned shift, direct firefighting operations, and oversee training and equipment maintenance. The role involves coordinating with the Fire Chief and ensuring adherence to department rules and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has 7–8 years in municipal fire protection with at least 3 years as a Fire Captain, plus an AA/AS in Fire Science and Fire Officer certification or equivalent.

Qualifikationen

• Seven (7) years of increasingly responsible experience in fire protective service; at least three years as Fire Captain.
• Eight (8) years of increasingly responsible experience; at least three years as Fire Captain.
• Completion of an AA/AS degree (preferred in Fire Science); State certification as a Fire Officer or equivalent desired.

Aufgaben

• Direct firefighting activities on an assigned 24-hour shift and supervise training and maintenance of equipment, apparatus, and stations.
• Submit reports, supervise discipline, train personnel, and coordinate with Fire Chief.
• Evaluate training programs, conduct staff meetings, and ensure compliance with department regulations.
