Johnson Controls in Memphis, TN seeks a service technician to diagnose, repair, and install fire alarm and related building systems at customer sites. You will read blueprints, follow manuals, and communicate clearly with customers to ensure satisfaction.

Qualifications

• 1+ years’ experience with fire alarm, access control, security intrusion, sound and communications systems.
• Must be able to interpret blueprints, diagrams and specifications.
• A good working knowledge of computers is necessary.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50–70 lbs.
• Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult position such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet.
• Require flexibility to work weekends and some overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Receive service calls from Service Resource Center and describe equipment malfunctions.
• Contact customer representative to ascertain problems and coordinate repairs.
• Diagnose problems and perform service and repairs on fire alarm systems at customer sites.
• Follow troubleshooting procedures and consult manuals to repair equipment.
• Service and install various Fire & Life Safety systems including SimplexGrinnell.
• Read blueprints, diagrams, submittals and specifications to guide work.
• Maintain strong customer service and ensure satisfaction.
• Complete service acknowledgements and obtain customer signatures.
• Enter task information and updates using mobile devices and laptops.
• Participate in on-call rotation and assist in training others.
