Job summary

American Fire Protection Group in Tyler, TX is seeking a Fire Alarm Technician to inspect, install, repair, and replace fire alarm equipment for commercial properties, and to perform preventative maintenance.

You will prepare accurate documentation, work on heavy equipment, travel as needed, and ensure a positive customer experience while complying with safety policies and local codes.

Qualifications

  • High School degree or the equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience in the fire alarm industry.
  • Must have FAL.
  • Must obtain and retain any licenses required by state/local codes.
  • Service experience.
  • Technical aptitude.
  • Strong verbal communication.
  • Customer-focused and customer-driven mindset.
  • Thrive in the face of uncertainty.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test, background, and reference check.

Responsibilities

  • Learn/Assist with installation of fire protection alarm systems for commercial applications (including piping, valves, and accessories).
  • Prepare accurate and timely documentation for work performed, complete monthly vehicle reports, and maintain truck inventory to ensure proper response to customers’ needs.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively - both verbally and in writing.
  • Ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic.
  • Be detail oriented.

Fire Alarm Technician

The function of this position is to provide reliable, high quality customer support through on‑site inspecting, installing, repairing, and/or replacing fire alarm equipment as well as conducting preventative maintenance services pertaining to many different manufacturers’ equipment.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Stand; walk; sit; twist; use hands to handle; reach with hands and arms; push; pull; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
  • Use vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, depth, and color.
  • Work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions/circumstances such as with ladders, scaffolding, high lift equipment, wires, ducts, crawl spaces, attics, above ceilings, etc.
  • Lift, move, and hold up to approximately 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work a full-time, flexible schedule with "on call availability" and must be able to travel on short notice.
  • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle (day and evenings) for extended time periods.
