Fire Alarm Technician Position

The function of this position is to provide reliable, high quality customer support through on‑site inspecting, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, servicing, and/or replacing fire alarm equipment as well as conducting preventative maintenance services pertaining to many different manufacturers’ equipment.

This position has a salary range of $25-35+ per hour depending on experience and held licenses.

Job Responsibilities
  • Installation and programming of fire protection alarm systems for commercial applications (including piping, valves, and accessories).
  • Service, Test, and Inspect Fire Alarm systems.
  • Document time worked as well as all paperwork relating to assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Must prepare accurate and timely documentation for work performed, complete monthly vehicle reports, and maintain truck inventory to ensure proper response to customers’ needs.
  • Documentation of time and work will be done through our inspection and service platforms as well as 3rd party sites.
  • On- Call service rotation is required.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers. Up-sell all AFPG services to include SHAD, sprinkler installation, and monitoring.
  • Meet responsibilities to the customer, fellow team members and AFPG by arriving on the job on time, ready to work, every day
  • Maintain accountability and respect tools and vehicles provided by company.
  • Must adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Must communicate effectively - both verbally and in writing.
  • Must ensure positive customer experience.
  • Must have a strong work ethic.
  • Must be detail oriented.
Job Qualifications
  • FAL License with a minimum of 3+ years of experience
  • Gamewell / FCI Certified
  • Fire Alarm programming experience
  • Service and troubleshooting experience
  • Technical aptitude
  • Strong verbal communication

  • Thrive in the face of uncertainty
  • Valid driver's license
  • High School degree or the equivalent
  • Electronic Trade School training is a plus
  • Must obtain and retain any licenses that are required by state and/or local codes.
  • Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug test, background, and reference check.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Stand; walk; sit; twist; use hands to handle; reach with hands and arms; push; pull; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
  • Use vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, depth, and color.
  • Work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions/circumstances such as with ladders, scaffolding, high lift equipment, wires, ducts, crawl spaces, attics, above ceilings, etc.
  • Lift, move, and hold up to approximately 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work a full-time, flexible schedule with "on call availability" and must be able to travel on short notice.
  • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle (day and evenings) for extended time periods.
