Job summary

Siemens Smart Buildings is seeking a Fire Alarm Systems Project Management Intern for Summer 2027 in the Chicago area. This 10-week, full-time internship offers hands-on experience in managing projects across HVAC, Fire/Life Safety, Security, and Energy/Sustainability.

You will rotate through departments, develop schedules, coordinate with teams, procure materials, and support cost reviews while learning a go-to-market mindset with the sales team.

Qualifications

• Must be current enrollment as an undergraduate at an accredited 4-year U.S. college or university.
• Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Energy/Sustainability and Built Environment.
• Rising Senior
• Ability to work 40-hours per week for the 10-week program (May - July or June - August)
• Relocation: No relocation assistance or housing stipend is provided. Must be willing and able to work at the branch office location and surrounding local area.
• Must have reliable transportation to get to and from worksite. Mileage will be reimbursed.
• This program does not support students on a Visa such as F1, J1, M1 and H1B as well as OPT/CPT.

Responsibilities

• Review project specifications, drawings, and project-specific documents to establish a project delivery plan.
• Develop and maintain a project schedule, as well as coordinate needs with the project team, identifying time-sensitive installation needs.
• Manage the procurement of supplies and materials to complete projects.
• Participate in project cost reviews.
• Track labor resources and project progress.
• Pursue project-specific change-order opportunities.
• Complete project-specific close-out documentation.
• Rotate through other departments within the branch office to learn about how our branch organization operates as a whole.
