Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety seeks a Fire Alarm Designer to create safe, efficient fire alarm systems. You will conduct site surveys, read blueprints, and develop shop drawings with AutoCAD, ensuring compliance with codes and manufacturer requirements.

Collaboration with architects, engineers, and customers is essential to tailor solutions. Ideal candidates have NICET certification or related education, strong communication skills, and experience with Notifier, Siemens, Firelite, or Silent Knight

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
• NICET 3 Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level II minimum preferred).
• Experience with Notifier, Siemens, Firelite, or Silent Knight fire alarm systems.
• AutoCAD experience preferred; other drafting programs may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys to assess fire risks and building layouts.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.
• Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements.
• Develop detailed schematics and plans for fire alarm installations using CAD software.
• Prepare submittals and material lists.
• Communicate with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers.
• Review designs and submittals with local authorities for compliance.
• Stay updated on fire alarm technology and regulations to ensure compliance.
