Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Cheyenne, WY is seeking a Fire Alarm Designer to contribute to safe, code-compliant fire alarm systems. You will interpret blueprints, assess site conditions, and collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to tailor solutions that meet project requirements.

The role emphasizes CAD drafting with AutoCAD, reading specifications and codes, and staying current with fire safety regulations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems preferred (Level II).
• Experience with Notifier, Siemens, Firelite, or Silent Knight fire alarm systems.
• AutoCAD experience preferred; other drafting programs may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys to assess fire risks and building layouts.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.
• Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD that meet codes and manufacturer requirements.
• Develop detailed fire alarm schematics with CAD software.
• Prepare submittals and material lists.
• Communicate with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers.
• Stay updated on fire alarm technology and regulations to ensure compliance.
