Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety seeks a Fire Alarm Designer to create safe, efficient fire alarm systems using industry standards and CAD tools. The role emphasizes site surveys, collaboration with engineers and clients, and producing compliant shop drawings.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are essential. The ideal candidate will have NICET certification and experience with Notifier, Siemens, Firelite, or Silent Knight systems, plus AutoCAD proficiency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred.
• NICET 3 Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level II minimum preferred).
• Experience with Notifier, Siemens, Firelite, or Silent Knight fire alarm systems.
• AutoCAD experience preferred. Other drafting programs may be considered.
• Possess professional business communications skills, both written and oral.
• Self-learner, self-motivated, dedicated, organized, and a team player.
• Must have good communication and organization skills.
• Be able to develop and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and accomplish tasks in a timely and safe manner.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys to assess fire risks and building layouts.
• Collaboration with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.
• Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements.
• Utilizing CAD software to develop detailed schematics and plans for fire alarm installations.
• Prepare submittals and material lists.
• Communicate with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, specifications, manufacturers manuals, and codes to produce designs and submittals to be reviewed by local officials.
• Remain updated on advancements in fire alarm technology and regulations to ensure compliance and optimal system performance.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
