Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Fire Alarm Designer to support the design of safe and efficient fire alarm systems. You will analyze site surveys, read blueprints, and craft detailed shop drawings using AutoCAD in compliance with codes and manufacturer requirements.

You will collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to define project requirements, prepare submittals, and maintain documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level II minimum preferred)
• Experience with Notifier, Siemens, Firelite, or Silent Knight fire alarm systems
• AutoCAD experience preferred; other drafting programs may be considered
• Professional business communications skills, both written and oral
• Self-driven, organized, and a collaborative team player
• Ability to deliver high-quality designs and maintain schedules and safety standards

Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys to assess fire risks and building layouts.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.
• Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements.
• Utilize CAD software to develop detailed schematics for fire alarm installations.
• Prepare submittals and material lists.
• Communicate with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers.
• Read and interpret documents to produce designs for submittals reviewed by local officials.
• Stay updated on advancements in fire alarm technology and regulations.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
