Join to apply for the Fire Alarm Service Technician (union) role at Johnson Controls.

We are seeking a skilled technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain electronic fire alarm systems and related building systems at customer sites. You will provide high-quality service, troubleshoot issues, and ensure customer satisfaction, acting as a trusted advisor and problem solver.

Responsibilities include:

• Responding to service calls, diagnosing equipment/system malfunctions, and performing repairs.
• Servicing and troubleshooting fire & life safety systems from various manufacturers, including SimplexGrinnell.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, manuals, and schematics.
• Communicating effectively with customers and team members to ensure satisfaction.
• Completing service documentation accurately and obtaining customer signatures.
• Participating in on-call rotations and mentoring team members.
• Providing recommendations for system improvements and upselling services.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 4 years of experience with low voltage electrical systems, including fire/life safety, access control, nurse call, and paging systems.
• NICET Level II certification required.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, manuals, and operational documents.
• Experience with test equipment and commissioning devices.
• Physical ability to carry tools and equipment up to 70 lbs., and work in challenging environments.
• Flexible working hours, including weekends and overnight travel as needed.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to pass background and drug tests, and maintain necessary licenses.

Pay rate: $38.80/hr, benefits through union agreement. Employment is full-time, mid-senior level, in the industrial machinery manufacturing industry.
