What you will do

Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center, including brief descriptions of equipment/system malfunctions. Contact customer representatives to identify equipment/system issues. Diagnose problems and perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and related building system products at customer sites. Provide our customers with the highest level of service to resolve building inefficiencies and service-related issues. Act as a trusted advisor by offering solutions and outcomes during service visits.

How you will do it

  • Follow troubleshooting procedures and reference technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, bulletins, modifications, etc., to repair equipment.
  • Service, troubleshoot, and install various manufacturers' Fire & Life Safety systems, including SimplexGrinnell.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational manuals.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills by communicating effectively with district staff and customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding via communication devices such as smartphones and laptops.
  • Obtain customer signatures upon service completion.
  • Participate in scheduled on-call rotations.
  • Assist in training or mentoring team members.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities.
  • Provide quotes supporting recommendations and solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What we look for

Required

  • Four years of documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.
  • NICET Level II certification is required.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and manuals.
  • Knowledge of test equipment such as multimeters, digital analyzers, and commissioning devices.
  • Ability to perform physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Capability to work in challenging positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lifts up to 40 feet, and working within ducts, crawl spaces, or above ceilings.
  • Flexibility to work hours including weekends and overnight travel as needed.
  • Demonstrate high levels of customer service.
  • Maintain truck inventory for prompt response to customer needs.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
  • Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and quick learning ability.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record meeting company standards.
  • Pass pre-employment background and drug tests.
  • Maintain necessary licenses per national, state, and local codes.
  • Complete SimplexGrinnell 4120 Network training within 12 months.

Pay Range: hourly rate $38.80, determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
