The Service Technician – Fire Alarm Division will directly oversee all duties and tasks of this functional discipline. As the Service Technician – Fire Alarm Division, you will report directly to the Service Manager – Fire Alarm Division and oversee the discipline and functions related to the daily duties associated with this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Live Our Values!
  • Understand Total Fire Protection’s strategy, business, and growth initiatives.
  • Possess relevant knowledge for servicing and maintaining Fire Alarm systems.
  • Identify and restore system trouble conditions, understanding all code requirements, manufacturer’s specifications, and customer service standards.
  • Conduct site surveys, system inspections, identify deficiencies, and write service tickets as needed.
  • Have knowledge of systems including Fire Alarm, detection, and notification systems.
  • Be familiar with NFPA 72, including recent updates, and the intent of the code.
  • Understand NYC and Long Island local building codes and fire alarm requirements.
  • Have general knowledge of fire systems, including detection, notification, fire dynamics, smoke management, and egress codes.
  • Possess knowledge of fire alarm system installations for various applications.
  • Communicate technical issues effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Write reports and facilitate clear internal and external communication.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5+ years in Fire Alarm Service-related work.
  • Proven experience with both conventional and addressable Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical wiring and repair of electrical equipment.
  • Experience with servicing low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety, Security, CCTV, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.
  • Certifications such as NICET in Fire Alarm, Manufacturer’s Programming Certifications, FDNY S98 Certificate of Fitness, among others.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members, clients, Building/Fire Officials, and contractors.
  • Excellent electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in Windows, Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Willingness to travel as needed based on geographic location.
  • Availability for Emergency On-Call Services as required.
