FSS Technologies is looking for a detail-oriented Fire Alarm Inspector to conduct inspections, maintenance, and testing of life safety systems. This role is critical to our mission protecting lives and property by ensuring the systems our clients depend on are fully functional and code-compliant.

What Youll Do

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm and sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA standards, local codes, and client requirements.
  • Identify, document, and report system deficiencies and malfunctions, including recommendations for necessary repairs or upgrades.
  • Ensure all systems are in compliance with state, federal, and local fire and life safety regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to explain inspection results and advise on maintenance needs or required corrective actions.
  • Prepare and submit detailed inspection reports, including test results, corrective actions, and any code compliance issues.
  • Collaborate with service technicians and other team members to address identified issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Stay current on industry trends, codes, and regulatory changes to ensure all inspections meet or exceed current requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date knowledge of various fire alarm and sprinkler system manufacturers, models, and system functionality.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.


Performance Objectives

  • Perform inspections that meet or exceed NFPA and local code standards.
  • Submit reports within specified timeframes.
  • Maintain exceptional customer satisfaction through clear communication and thorough service.


What Were Looking For

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in fire alarm and sprinkler system inspection or maintenance.
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
  • Backflow Testing certified,

Key Traits for Success:

  • NICET Certification (Level I or higher) in Fire Alarm Systems or Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems is .
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 25, NFPA 72, and local building/fire codes.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage workload and schedule independently.
  • Flexibility for occasional after-hours or weekend work based on client needs.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move around construction sites and walk on uneven ground.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Capable of climbing ladders, working in confined spaces and at various heights.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors, often in changing weather conditions.
  • Regular use of PPE and adherence to OSHA safety requirements.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential requirements.

Salary & Compensation

  • Target pay: $20 - $25 per hour based on experience.
