Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking a Fire Alarm Inspector I apprentice in Bethesda, MD.

You will learn under experienced inspectors, gaining practical skills in fire suppression, detection, and alarm systems while supporting installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance tasks. As an apprentice, you will participate in training sessions, shadow senior technicians, and document inspections and repairs. The role emphasizes safety, professional growth, and advancing toward certification in NICET

• HS Diploma/GED with 1+ years of relevant experience.
• Above average attention to detail and professional work ethic.
• Commitment to excellence and high quality of work.
• Ability to function in a controlled, effective manner under stress.
• Strong desire to continuously increase your skill set and take on more responsibility.
• Above average communication skills with customers, field personnel, office staff and sub-contractors.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior technicians with installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems.
• Shadow experienced technicians during site visits to observe best practices.
• Engage in training sessions and workshops to develop foundational knowledge of fire protection components.
• Participate in routine inspections and testing of fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
• Assist in installation, maintenance, and upgrades of fire alarm systems as needed.
• Document inspections, maintenance activities, test results, and repairs.
• Learn to handle tools and equipment for fire protection systems.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations on-site.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors to contribute to project tasks.
• Seek guidance from seasoned professionals to progress as a Fire Protection Technician.
